Art Fun with Paint and Found Objects!
Today's class is a little messy, and that adds to the overall enjoyment! Kids get to experiment with mixing different colors of paint to make new colors, and they also paint with objects from around the house! Grab some old "big" shirts to protect their clothing, cover the working surface, and have lots of fun!

Retirement - Am I REALLY Doing This??
"R" Day
March, 2012
Okay, I need to deal with it, today is "R" day. My husband is driving me to Baton Rogue, Louisiana, to the Teacher Retirement Office for me to fill out my retirement application. I have dreaded this day, and I have even hoped that a miracle would happen so I would not have to retire at this time.

"MEGA" Scotcheroos
Scotcheroos have long been a favorite snack in our family. Several years ago, when I had to eliminate chocolate from my diet for medical reasons, I was disappointed that I could no longer eat this quick and easy, delicious dessert. I continued to make this scrumptious recipe for my family, and then one day it occurred to me - modify Scotcheroos and leave out the chocolate! Of course, that led to a mutiny as far as my chocolate-loving family is concerned! I therefore created my own variation, complete with "crunchy" peanut butter, my favorite! Now everyone is happy!! Enjoy!!

This Is the Day!
This is the day!
Are you familiar with that song? Here's how it goes:
This is the day (2nd person or group repeats)
That the Lord has made. (repeat)
I (We) will rejoice (repeat)
And be glad in it. (repeat)

My "Star-Spangled' Americana Guest Room
With a last name like Justice, it seems only fitting and right that our family would be very patriotic. In fact, when I was pregnant with our first child, my husband and I even toyed with the idea of "Liberty Ann" Justice for a girl name! We had a boy, and 2 boys followed, so we never used that name!
I love my country, the United States of America. Yes, when I was teaching, my class did say the Flag Salute daily, along with singing a patriotic song. I always told the kids, "Stand up straight and tall; be proud to be an American!"

Upcycle: Adult T-Shirt to Girl's Nightshirt
There's an unspoken rule among those born in West Virginia: Never throw away a West Virginia T-Shirt! With that rule in mind, I decided to "Upcycle" my t-shirt into a nightshirt for my granddaughter, Mia.

"Who's making the chili?"

My Dad, My Hero!
My Dad said it is okay if I write a blog post about him, but he said I must say that he is the "Old maid's heart-throb!" Okay, Dad, I said it! Now the rest of what I write is up to me! But, now, how do I describe my Dad? He has been such a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend; it's very difficult to put it all into words.
