Granddaughter Mia loves to cook, and she is going to help me bake a Chocolate Sheet Cake for her Papaw's birthday. This scrumptious cake involves several steps, so let's get started!
Ingredients for cake and frosting:
3 sticks margarine or butter (divided)
8 T cocoa (divided)
2 cups sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
2 - 1/2 teaspoons distilled white vinegar (divided)
2 teaspoons vanilla (divided)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup milk + 6 Tablespoons milk (divided)
1 box confectioner's sugar (1 lb.)
1 cup water
Tip: A 1 lb. box of confectioner's sugar = 3-3/4 cups.
Directions:
Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease or spray a 12" x 17" sheet cake pan with Pam.
Step 2: To make "sour milk", add 2 teaspoons vinegar to 1/2 cup milk. Set aside.
Step 3: In a medium saucepan, boil 2 sticks margarine, 1 cup water, and 4 Tablespoons cocoa. Stir and set aside.
Step 5: In a small mixing bowl, combine 2 eggs, 1/2 teaspoons vinegar, 1 teaspoon vanilla, baking soda, and the "sour milk" from Step 2. Beat until smooth.
