It's time to celebrate, so let's make a Cookie Cake! We recently made this Cookie Cake for my Daughter-in-law's birthday, and the grand-kids had a great time helping! It's quick, easy, cute, and yummy-delicious!
Ingredients:
1 package chocolate cake mix (15.25 oz.)
1/2 cup canola or vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips
M & Ms (We used M & M Minis and Regular M & Ms.)
Directions:
Sort the M & Ms by color. This is a great kid's activity!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Use Pam Spray to coat a 12" round metal baking pan.
Empty cake mix in a medium-size mixing bowl. Add eggs and oil; mix. Batter will be very thick.
Add the chocolate chips and stir. Press batter into the baking pan.
And now for the fun part! Let the kids use the M & Ms to design a face on the Cookie Cake! Place the M & Ms on the dough and press lightly. This step definitely involves planning and cooperation!
Let cool, cut, and enjoy!
Nancy's Notes:
- Other flavors of cake mixes can be used for this recipe.
- You can make other shapes out of the M & Ms instead of the smiley face, such as a heart, etc.
- Reese's Pieces and other similar candies can be used instead of the M & Ms.
- Icing in a pastry bag or Ziploc bag can be used for writing and other embellishments.
