Hungry? How about some delicious Cinnamon French Toast? Although French Toast originated before France actually existed, it is still a popular breakfast item today. Try my quick and easy, low-fat recipe!
French toast was first found in the Apicius, a collection of Latin recipes which date back to the 4th or 5th Centuries. Throughout history, French Toast was a great way to use stale bread.
My recipe for Cinnamon French Toast has evolved over time into a low-fat, but still delicious, version. Also, I do not use salt, so I feel this is a very healthy and delicious recipe!
Ingredients:
Eggs (1 egg for each 2 slices)
2% Milk
Water
Slices of bread (Our family's favorite is White Wheat.)
Pam
Butter
Cinnamon Sugar (or cinnamon and granulated sugar)
Maple Syrup or honey
Directions:
Spray a non-stick skillet with Pam. Heat to slightly above medium heat.
Tip: Make sure the bowl is large enough for the bread to fit easily.
Whip with a fork until well blended.
When browned, use a spatula to flip the French Toast over. Again, sprinkle Cinnamon Sugar on top, and add a couple of "slivers" of butter to each slice.
If more browning is needed, flip again.

Serve the Cinnamon French Toast on a plate with Maple Syrup or honey. It's even more delicious when the Maple Syrup is warmed in the microwave! A glass measuring pitcher makes this job easier!
Nancy's Notes:
- This is a great recipe for kids to help with. In my experience, if kids help cook, they are more likely to eat (even Picky Eaters)!
- Using "slivers" of butter and Pam allow for great taste while keeping the fat content low.
- If you don't have Cinnamon Sugar, just use a spoon to mix a 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon into 1/4 cup granulated sugar in a small bowl. Store leftovers tightly covered.

- If you don't like cinnamon, just leave it out of the recipe!
