Pom Pom Clown Craft

Do you need a super craft for a Circus Birthday Party? This clown craft is quick, easy, low-cost, and lots of fun! A variation with hands and feet is included. Follow my DIY to create your own!

Of course, we needed a craft for the Circus Birthday Party. I found a picture for the Clown craft online but no directions, so granddaughter Mia and I came up with our own "how-to".  

Before the party, I created "Clown Craft Kits" by placing the materials for each craft in a Ziploc bag.

I also covered the craft table with a plastic table cloth. I placed the Clown Craft Kits, paper plates, glue, and a sketch and sample of the completed craft in a dishpan on the craft table. I also included pencils and pens for the kids to write their names on their craft.

Materials:

14 pompoms  (3/4" to 1")
1/4 chenille stem (3 " piece of pipe cleaner)
2 wiggle eyes (3/8" or 1/2")
1 small (sturdy) paper plate (We used white, red, and blue.)
white glue (Tacky glue works best!)


Directions: 

Glue 2 "wiggle" eyes to the paper plate.

Glue a pom-pom nose to the plate.

Use the remaining pom-poms to create hair for the clown.

Bend the chenille stem and glue it to the plate for the mouth. Hold the chenille stem in place for a few seconds while the glue sets.

Finished!! Now let the clown lie flat for about 30 minutes while the glue dries.

The kids did a great job completing the craft at the party. 

Since the supplies for the Clown Craft were packaged as a kit in a Ziploc bag, kids who didn't have time to make a craft at the party could take a craft home to create.

Variations:

When I visited granddaughters Aleyna and Abby, I took along a couple of Clown Craft Kits. Aleyna wanted her clown to have hands and feet, so I cut them from 3" x 5" colored index cards. Aleyna glued the hands and feet to her clown and was pleased with the results!

Abby did a great job on her clown, also.
