Key-chain to Ornament

Are you shopping for the perfect souvenirs on a budget? Christmas ornaments are a popular choice, but they. can be very pricey, especially at Disney World. Instead, buy a key-chain, and make ornaments yourself! My strategy: Look in the expensive shops for ideas first, then start creating! Happy crafting!

Materials:

Key-chain
Felt
Glitter Paint
Cotton Swabs
Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Thin ribbon and/or metallic cord

Directions:

When at Disney World, I found out that the nearby Walmart has an amazing Disney souvenir section, priced much less that the shops at Disney World.

I found these large key-chains and thought they would be great as Christmas Ornaments.

First, remove the key-ring, leaving the jump ring intact. Keep the jump ring for another project.

Next, hot glue the shape to felt.

Use sharp scissors to carefully cut out the shape. My spring-loaded craft scissors do the job well!

And now for the fun part...

Lay the shape "face up" on a protected surface. Use a Q-Tip or small artist paint brush to sparingly apply glitter paint to the front of the shape.

Tip: Remember, apply glitter paint sparingly. You can always all more, if needed.

When dry, insert a 12" piece of 1/8" ribbon in the jump ring, and tie an overhand knot in the end.

Insert one end of a 15" piece of 5/8" sheer ribbon through the front of the jump ring. Tie a knot in the center, and then tie a bow.

Apply Fray Check to the ends of the ribbon to prevent raveling.

If the ornament feels a little "tacky", let it hang at room temperature for a couple of days.

Who would guess this used to be a key-ring?
