Layered Taco Dip



Layered Taco Dip - an easy and delicious way to use leftover taco meat for a family meal or party! Photos and step-by-step directions are included. Caution: this family-favorite dip is habit forming...you might want to double the recipe!



Ingredients:


1 - 16 oz. can refried beans
2  1/2 cups leftover taco meat 
1 cup salsa
1 cup shredded mild cheddar cheese
1 - 8 oz. jar taco sauce
1 cup mozzarella cheese
Jalapeno peppers (optional)



Directions:

Use Pam to coat the bottom of a large micro-proof baking dish.

Spread 1 can of refried beans over the bottom of the dish.



"Sprinkle" taco meat evenly over the refried beans.



Spread salsa evenly over the taco meat.

"Sprinkle" cheddar cheese over the salsa.


Spread taco sauce evenly over the cheddar cheese.



"Sprinkle" mozzarella cheese over the top.


Microwave 10 - 12 minutes, until cheese is melted and dip is "bubbly" around the edges.

Note: Microwave ovens vary; adjust time accordingly.

Cover and let stand 5 minutes before serving.




Serve with:

  • a variety of chips (Chili Cheese Fritos, Nacho chips, etc.)
  • crackers
  • raw vegetables
  • Jalapeno peppers
  • It's also a delicious way to top a baked potato!
